Does anybody know a really good photo editing program, free, that can remove backgrounds from pictures?

Paint.NET is easy to use 
And it has the option to remove backgrounds with the transparency wand.

But Paint.Net isn't nearly as good as..

There are lots of different programs that you should research up on you tube,

I use gimp 2.6 and now just got photoshop cs5.
Get it by downloading the link that Liz posted above ^^^^^
I have been using gimp for.... several months? And love it!
Gimp 2.6 is kinda hard in the beginning but you will get the hang of it after you watch a few tutorials
