Well, I recently just got Gimp 2.8, and I was wondering how to use it and MOSTLY wondering how to crop out the background on the picture that there is.
If anyone can help me, please let me know.

Hm..pretty sure Photoshop is translatable into Gimp, but I usually use the polygonal lasso tool or the eraser c;

in Photoshop, you find it on the right sidec;
Not sure about Gimp tho
It's usually the lasso tool so you have to right click and there are 3 options in Photoshop
lasso tool > polygonal lasso tool > magnetic lasso tool

Yes, you can get a free 30 day trial of Photoshop CS6 Extended on the photoshop website

Well, you can try the scissors tool, too for cropping.
