The diary of Amber

Hi guys. I will be writing a diary entry of my daily life, to show you guys a bit about my life in South Africa. Hope you enjoy it.

23rd March 2013
Dear Diary
We are currently at Villiersdorp, it is a small town where our family, along with family friends go often. My parents are coming later today, and right now I am with my friends. We are going to head to the dam. It is a big river where we boat, ski and tube. For those of you who don't know what tubing is, it is basically like a big rubber seat which attaches to the boat and we get pulled along with it. It is so much fun. It is so hard to hold on and we often get thrown off into the water. It was so cold and I almost froze. We went for one last tube ride, where I luckily didn't fall off and went back to the cottage where we are staying. My parents arrived later. Myself and my three friends and my sister are staying in a tent in the garden, as there is not enough space in the house. I am now on my laptop and my friends are sleeping and reading. For supper tonight we are having a braai. That is the South African word for a BBQ.

Dear Diary
We woke up early and started to pack up, as today we were leaving Villiersdorp. We convinced my dad to drive us down to the little Ok Shop and bought flapjacks with Bar One ice-cream, chocolate and Astro’s as toppings. It was so delicious. We then put on our costumes for the last time and made our way down to the dam. We went tubing again and the parents had a ski. We got back and started packing the car. I am now in the car and very bored. Its about another 1 hour and a half until I get home.

Monday, 25th March 2013
Today was by far the most laziess day of my life. My school has broken up early, since we are a private school and I was so bored. I woke up quite early and my sister and I watched the season finale of season four of 90210. I wanted to cry its so sad. We then watched The Vampire Diaries, which is so intense and ate flapjacks again. We're such pigs. Haha(;
I spent the rest of the day on BP.

Tuesday, 26th March 2013
I woke up and went with my mom to take my cousin to school. I played with him for a bit then we went to my grandparents house. My grandpa's having a cataract surgery later today, so wish him luck c:
My cousin just had a baby, Ben. Every person in the family has been given a square piece of fabric in which we have to make a pattern/picture relating to the sea. We bought some motives and fabric paint and then came home. I better start my homework soon. c:

Tuesday night, March 26th 2013
Tonight we had sort of a "family reunion". My dad's side of the family is huge, he has two brothers and two sisters. Those who could make it came to my aunt's house. We had a reunion because my cousin is down from London, too bad she didn't bring her children :O and my cousin, his wife and their two adorable little girls are down from New Zealand. We had such a fun night and played Uno and this other game (;

Wednesday, 27th March 2013
Today we went shopping :DD We went to Canal Walk, which is a shopping mall. It is the second biggest mall in Africa. I love it there, its got all these amazing shops, but they're really expensive. I didn't buy much, but I got a jersey from Factorie and a 1D book from Exclusive Books. We had lunch and shopped a bit more and then went into town to the CTICC. (Cape Town International Convention Centre) My mom, sister and my sister's friend are running the Two Ocean's half marathon (21km) and needed to get their race numbers. It was a huge big expo, it was so cool. The race is this Saturday. Wish them luck(:

Thursday, 28th March 2013
Today was another lazy day. I literally spent the whole day in PJ's. Tomorrow I am leaving for Durban :DD (Durban is one of the three main cities in South Africa) so I spent the whole day packing clothes. It is Autumn here in Africa (opposite to UK/Canada/USA) so I was quite confused as whether to bring warm clothes or not. The weather is crazy here. My aunt and uncle live in Durban and they own a farm, they're really rich its crazy. He owns a blasting company and it is the second biggest one in Africa. :O he also has his own private jet. Its sort of another family reunion at the farm. They have three houses there and a bunch of my dad's family is flying up there for the Easter weekend. My dad and I fly tomorrow and my mom and sister on Sunday, because they're competing in this race on Saturday. I may not be as active until Wednesday, because I'll be with the family, but I'm bringing my laptop, so I'll still come on chatbox :DD

Easter weekend
Friday, 29th March 2013
My dad and I arrived quite around lunchtime in Durban and grabbed lunch from Woolworths. We ate in the car on the way to my Uncles farm. It is about a 2 hour car drive. When we got there we unpacked, and they showed us around a bit. They have quite a bit of animals, from cows, horses, sheep, pigs and chickens to type a few types of buck.

Saturday, 30th March 2013
We explored around the Midlands in Durban and went into all these little shops. We went into this kitchen shop and bought such a lot of all these cool kitchen gadgets. (; We had curry for supper. Yum. My cousin arrived with his new girlfriend, who was really sweet and all. We played 30 seconds. My family is very competitive and gets quite intense while playing

Easter Sunday, 31st March, 2013
We went to a place called Piggly Wiggly, which is a big market and went shopping some more. After that we went to a wine estate for lunch, where my sister and mom joined us. The whole family was there together, it was quite special <3
We went home, had a sleep and my cousin drove us around the farm. We had a light supper and went to bed.

Monday, 1st April, 2013
My cousin *tried* to pull an April Fools joke on my uncle and aunt. They were leaving today for CT, and he told them that the planes were going to be delayed due to signal error and all that. They ovbiously didn't believe him, but ended up being delayed 7 hours because of the weather
We went to see this waterfall somewhere and had lunch there. It was like a restaurant with a petting zoo. So they had sheeps, horses, rabbits and cats. :3
I helped my mom make chicken pie for dinner. Yum<3

Tuesday, 2nd April, 2013
The only people left today was my family, and ofcourse my aunt and uncle, who owned the farm. Everyone else had gone home. We just went to the shops and went back to the cool kitchen shop to buy more things. We spent over R2000 (2000 rand) which is
$200 and 150 pounds
They had really cool things. We went for supper at a pizza place where they had a quiz night. Lol, we came last (;

Wednesday, 3rd April, 2013
We left the farm quite early and went to this fancy hotel for breakfast before we went to the airport. We were there a little early, so we went to Exclusive Books, Cotton Candy and some random tie shop.
We then boarded the plane and I am now home
