Cyberbullying ~ a serious topic.
Hey guys. Today I want to bring something to your attention.
Cyberbullying.
What is cyberbullying? Well the dictionary says:
the act of harassing someone online by sending or posting mean messages, usually anonymously.
But I think it's also something else. My definition is:
the act of being rude to one another online by saying mean things, spreading rumors, and hurting them emotionally.
It's not always anonymous either.
I've seen people online say things to others directly "shut up" "you're stupid" "you don't deserve to live". Guys, do you realize how hurtful that is? I know that I wouldn't wanna be told that I shouldn't be alive, so I would never say that to another person.
Also, this saddens me, but I see cyberbullying her on BP too! And it's the little things: "OMG nerdy isn't even that rare, so why do you think your so special?" I'm sorry if you don't think nerdy is rare, but the other person might think it is, so let them feel special about it instead of you ruining their day.
I really hope that you guys understand. Cyberbullying isn't cool. At all.
That's all.

I agree with you, some people just don't care because it's on the Internet but anything can hurt you.

Agreed. Coming from someone who knows how it feels like to be cyber bullied, I'll tell you it's not pleasant. Remember, what may seem like one simple insult to you may result in a disaster for the person on the other side of the computer screen.
Re: Cyberbullying ~ a serious topic.
I agree
When people make others look like cowards for something and therefore making them so sad that they could suicide or self harm, that person is being more of a coward for making someone feel so insecure and vulnerable that they did that.
All countries need to put a law on Cyberbullying as it's honestly becoming a big killer......

Omg, I totally agree with you guys :c I've been cyberbullied tons of times, and it hurts. 'Treat others the way you would want to be treated', though it may seem easier to fight back with people and say hurtful things, its a lot more rewarding when you treat others the way you want to be treated. c:

I agree and thanks for bringing up this topic Maddie. What may just be something someone took two seconds to think about and write, with no thought about anything at all, just typing things that aren't even true, can cause someone to end their life forever. I constantly get cyberbullied, and see cyberbullying everywhere, and in many occasions, I notice that the people who get cyberbullied don't just get bullied and that's it. They go to school, get physically or verbally bullied, sometimes both, they come home to see their parents fighting, and their
Outwhole family tearing apart, then they try to escape the world by doing something else such as getting online, but not even that works. They get online and just get bullied again. Then at night, you think they'd relax, but no. They don't relax. They do self harm, and sleep very late (which affects them in the day to feel worse) with barely getting to rest. Cyberbullying isn't a joke at all. You don't only hurt one person. You hurt more. If they're brave enough to tell their paren or friends, you break their hearts. Those who don't tell though and keep it all boxed up don't get anything any better which usually ends in suicide or self harm. Imagine that. Five seconds of thinking, without giving it a second thought, can change S

Five seconds of thinking, without giving it a second thought, can change someones life forever. If they kill themselves, there's even more people you affect. It might be an entire family, it might be an entire neighborhood, it might be an entire city, it might me and entire state. You don't know that. And actually, sending someone to kill themselves is a crime. You can be charged up to $25,000 with 10+ years in prison. If that person actually does it, in some states, you can get charged with manslaughter, and you are legally responsible for that persons death. Think about what you say.

I also agree, that cyber-bullying is not nice and that some people should respect others.

Re: Cyberbullying ~ a serious topic.
I agree!!!
Thanks for making this post. People need to spread around what cyber bullying really is.
It's not just hurting others online, sometimes words can hurt in real life too even if it's said online.
Cyber bullies don't know who's feelings they are hurting or how old the person is that they are hurting.
Cyber bullies can also hurt people's feeling really easily, depending on the person
It's hard to believe how many people get hurt just from playing online social games.
